Course Report

The course has survived the winter months well and David and his men have completed the planned Winter Program in addition to other work that was deemed necessary. The new policy of micro-coring the greens regularly throughout the playing season rather than heavy hollow-coring in late autumn has resulted in improved putting surfaces throughout the winter months and this policy will continue throughout the year.  Members will note the work done in re-vetting 11 bunkers. The bunker in the rough to the left of the 8th has been filled in and the reshaping of bunkers at the 14th has provided this hole with an even more magnificent view from the tee. A new bunker has also been introduced at the 7th. A new tee has been built at the 2nd and a path to the new medal tee will be constructed during the early part of the season.  Medal tees at the 5th and 8th holes and the ladies tee at the 18th have also been extended.

Members are reminded that the condition of the greens is mainly down to the hard work of the greens staff but all this can be undone by pitch marks not being repaired.  Please ensure that you repair your pitchmark every time and look to repair at least two or three others on each green.  Pitchmarks unrepaired are like a cancer on golf courses and together we must eradicate this disease.

Hole by Surname System

In an effort to reduce the excessive number of pitch marks on ALL of the greens would ALL members please repair a minimum of THREE pitch marks at the relevant hole to initial of their surname.

New Local Rule

The burn in front of the first green is now in play and relief from the burn may be taken in accordance with Rule of Golf 26-1.  The burn is a water hazard as defined by the yellow posts.

Temporary Local Rule

The white lined area to the left of and behind the first green is mandatory Ground Under Repair (GUR) from which play is prohibited.

Relief, without penalty, under rule of golf 25-1 may be taken but, as an alternative, the player may proceed to the nearest dropping zone (even though it may be nearer the hole) and drop, without penalty.

Slow Play

Please remember that your position on the course is directly behind the match in front, not directly in front of the match behind.
